The Federal Government has issues warning to 19 States across the Federation to expect five days of flooding
The predicted States and locations to witness the flooding are: Akwa-Ibom, South South in towns like Edor, Eket, Ikom, Oron, Upenekang
In Bauchi State, (Tafawa-Balewa, Azare, Jama’are, Kari, Misau, Jama’a). And in Ebonyi State (Abakaliki, Echara, Ezilo).
Others are Cross-River State, (Ogoja Edor, Obubra). Nasarawa State, (Keana, Keffi, Wamba), Benue State (Agaku, Buruku, Gboko, Igumale, Ito, Katsina-Ala, Ugba, Vande-Ikya), Kaduna State, (Jaji, Kafancha, Birnin-Gwari, Zaria), Katsina State, (Bindawa, Bakori, Daura, Funtua).
Kebbi (Bagudo, Birnin-Kebbi, Bunza, Gwandu, Jega, Kalgo, Kamba, Kangiwa, Shanga, Ribah, Sakaba, Saminaka, Yelwa, Gauri-Banza), Kano State, (Bebeji, Gezawa, Gwarzo, Kano, Karaye, Tundun-wada, Wudil, Kunchi), Niger State (Kontagora, Rijau, Ringim) and Plateau State, (Mangu).
The rest are Taraba State,(Donga, Takum), Jigawa State, (Diginsa, Gumel, Dutse, Gwaram, Hadejia, Miga), Yobe State (Machina, Potiskum), Zamfara State (Anka), Sokoto State , (Sokoto, Wamakko), Borno State, (Biu) and Gombe State, (Bajoga).
The warning said between August 5 and August 9, 2025, the States in question are anticipated to receive rainfall that may lead to flooding.
The National Flood Early Warning Systems Centre, part of the Federal Ministry of Environment, released the warning on Tuesday urging stakeholders and residents to promptly implement precautionary actions.
