Comptroller Babatunde Olomu fsi, Customs Area Controller of the Apapa Customs Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Monday said the successes recorded in revenue collection and trade facilitation at the command is accredited to the deligence of his officers and compliance by stakeholders at the premier port command.
Comptroller Olomu who is also a PhD holder said this while receiving nomination letter as the MOST OUTSTANDING CUSTOMS AREA CONTROLLER (REVENUE), 2024 from the local organizing Committee of MARITIME INDUSTRY MERIT AWARD ( MIMA) 2025, led by Publisher of Shipping World Magazine, Elder Asu Beks, whose his company, Maritime Media Limited is the organisers of the award.
Receiving the Nomination Letter, Comptroller Olomu, while thanking the organisers of the awards, dedicated the award to his officers and stakeholders who , according to him despite the hash economic situation are still steadfast in their duties.
” Last year we were awarded best command in trade facilitation, aside from the revenue collection award, that shows that we run an open door policy. There is no stakeholder that does not have my phone number and there is no Stakeholder that I don’t pick his/her calls. We are here to facilitate trade and make things easy for our stakeholders.
” I often sympathise with most of our importers and Clearing agents, that despite the unfavorable business climate, they are still struggling to make sure they pay their duties. I dedicate this award to them.
” We are working in line with the policy trust of the Comptroller General and we are ever ready to make sure our stakeholders have the best of services, while encouraging them to be compliant in their declarations to facilitate trade”, Olomu said.
In his remarks, why Maritime Media Limited has continued to award performing and dedicated leaders, Elder Asu Beks said the MIMA which is in it’s 27th edition has over the years recognized hardworking and performing Nigerians who contribute immensely to the economic growth and development of the country, which the government may not pay attention to reward them.
Asu Beks promised the 27th edition of MIMA which comes up on April 15, 2025 at the Lagos Oriental hotel, will be a fanfare and carnival like ceremony to celebrate performers in the Nigerian Maritime subsector.
Among the high profile Awardees in MIMA 2025 are Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwuolu, Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Duoye Diri among others.
