Due to the incessant disturbance and struggle for power at the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Murtala Mohammed Cargo Airport Chapter, members are crying out to the public and security agencies to call those fomenting trouble at the airport to stay clear, even as they distanced themselves from those igniting the crises at the chapter.

Speaking with our reporter on Friday , a cross section of the ANLCA Airport Chapter Executives who spoke through their Chairman , Prince Adewusi Bamigbala and Vice Chairman, Davies Ben Chukwunenye respectively, said they are standing on their mandate and the supreme constitution of ANLCA which gave them four (4) years single tenure to served at the Airport Chapter.

Reacting to the recent invasion of the chapter by some National Executive Committee (NECOM) members with security agencies, they said ” the NECOM came to forced us out of office, saying our tenure of three (3) years has ended. But you know and they know our tenure as stated in our Certificate of Returns as duly signed by the legally elected president, Iju Tony Nwabunike who duly signed our Certificate of Returns reads four years and that is the mandate of our members at the Airport Chapter.

“Moreso, our members who elected us are not making any trouble, they are satisfied with our leadership. So, I don’t know why some people in the ANLCA, NECOM are bringing trouble to our chapter. Mind you, they are not doing any business here at the Airport Chapter. Our airport chapter is very peaceful and you know is an international gateway and very volatile too. So, we who operate here with all the security agencies knows this .

” We want to also inform the security agencies at the Airport that, ANLCA members at the airport don’t have any issues, because the various matters are in courts as law abiding citizens. But, those who are not operating at the airport are those bringing problems to the place, the security agencies should stopped them.

” In fact , we want to let the Security Agencies to know that the Airport Chapter is not ANLCA National Secretariat, if at all there are issues, those concerned should be summoned to the ANLCA National Secretariat for redress, nobody should be coming to the Airport to foment trouble and disrupt the peace of the law abiding stakeholders there. We want the security agencies to know this and tell those concern.”

Speaking also on the allegation of misappropriation of over N400million . On this, the Chapter Chairman, Prince Adewusi Bamigbala responded.

” You are a credible media person, please do your investigation, tell them to give you the audit report that indicted me guilty of chopping N400m. Where do we get such money in the first place.?

” They just cooked up figures to witch hunt me. They petitioned me to Special Fraud Investigation Unit ( SFIU) of the Nigeria Police alleging N300m , now they wrote another petition to IGP Monitoring team, the put N400m, in all the petitions, there is no evidence of any audit report that said this is how the money came about and this is how you misappropriated it. Is just a witch hunt.

” Moreso , you all know ANLCA chapters don’t collect or keep money for the national, we only pay our dues from our collection to the National, so the N400m they are brandishing, how? Is the airport chapter the purse of ANLCA National?

” I think our leaders should know that they are ridiculing the association, not Adewusi or even Airport Chapter, because it can be any chapter or Chairman. Why are they fighting me?, I supported them all the way.” Adewusi said.

On the way forward, they are agreed thus ” We still have our mandate which remains 11 months, so they should allow ether our members to decide or the court to decide. For us, we stand on our mandate.
We are not fighting anybody, we are going about our normal duties at the airport, as such let no one trouble us at the airport. We have respected them enough as our leaders, they should allow the rule of law to prevail”.
