A group of progressive Licensed owners from the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has called for proper scrutiny of the 14 candidates that are contesting for the 9 slots in the forthcoming ANLCA Board election.
The group named as Progressive Licensed Customs Agents ( PLCA) said it has become imperative for ANLCA members to have the best of Representatives at the BOT level to champion the long awaited new ANLCA.
The group in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Tochukwu said, ANLCA as the foremost Customs Brokers association cannot afford to make another mistake in electing its board members that will chart a new course for the association, away from the past board , which has often caused pains instead of joy in the association.
According to the group ” We have seen the names of the 14 candidates who are gearing up for 9 slots for the board election. We know some of them and their pedigree, some of them , we don’t know.
“We are also aware some of the have been in the board for over a decade contributing nothing than crises. Some of them are too old and also have nothing to offer. Such characters should not be voted into the board”., the group said.
The PLCA also seek for every candidate to publish their profiles, their educational qualifications, services and positions held in ANLCA, as well as their previous contributions to the growth of association.
” We in PLCA will love for the 14 candidates contesting for the position of board members to publicise their profiles for scrutiny by ANLCA members and voters. This will help members to make the right choices based on their conviction and candidates pedigree.
” We have been reading in the media about a group of B9 out of the 14 candidates for the board election, some of them we know, some we don’t really know them. We don’t know their profiles and pedigree in ANLCA.
” We are also aware that , the election will be based on individuals performance and pedigree as well as popularity. So anybody lumping up individuals as B9 is ether planning to rigged the election or to bring in unwanted and unqualified elements to the board and we will never allow that to happen. We the licensed owners and voters wants to see their profiles and interrogate it if they really qualify to be on Board.
“We have seen few profiles from few candidates, we are scrutinizing them and their ability to lead the new ANLCA. We want to see more, nobody should hide under any group to perpetrate fraudulent entrance into the ANLCA BOT, where they are not truly qualified.
The group further said, they are not after any candidate, but to make sure this ANLCA BOT election ushers in a fresh lease of life for the association and for the freight forwarding Industry in Nigeria.
