President Tinubu Appoints Dr Dantsoho as New Managing Director NPA, Sen. Adeyeye as Board Chair

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr Abubakar Dantsoho as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The President has also approved the appointment of Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Dr Abubakar Dantsoho’s appointed has ended the tenure of Mohammed Bello- Koko as the Managing Director of the gateway agency in Nigeria.

Dr Abubakar Dantsoho was appointed by the former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo as his Chief of Staff in 2022.

Dantsoho holds a PhD in Maritime Technology, from the Prestigious Liverpool John Moores University, UK, and M.Sc in International Transport from the University of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom, and a B.Sc from the Prestigious University of Maiduguri.

Dantsoho has been in the Maritime industry for well over twenty-five years, with skills in Maritime Technology, Ports Management and Operations, logistics, Business, and Strategic Planning, Project Management, and research/studies with international institutions, including the World Bank and Crown Agent UK.
He was also the former Port Manager of the Onne Port in Rivers State.

Before his appointment, he had served in various roles in the Nigerian Ports Authority as Assistant General Manager; Technical Assistant to the Managing Director; Port Manager, Onne Port; and Principal Manager, Tariff & Billing.

Senator Adeyeye, the Board Chairman, is a seasoned lawyer, journalist, and politician. He is a former Minister of State for Works and former Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.

The President expects the new leadership of this pivotal agency to deploy excellence in the discharge of their duties to enable efficient port services and improved industry outcomes.
