In the last two weeks clearing and businesses activities at the major ports of Apapa, Tin Can Island and PTML have been crippled due to non functioning of the Customs internet system in the ports.
One of the top cleaning Agent and a Chieftain of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), who lamented their plight to Roamrepporters online yesterday said.
” Please help us tell Customs and the government that we are suffering. For the past two weeks, the Customs Saver has been fluctuating , you cannot even process your job , not to talk of exiting your consignment and we’re incurring demurrage everyday and nobody is talking. Please help us talk to the Customs.”.
Another freight forwarder Mr Moses Sunday , who also spoke with our Correspondent, lamented that for the past two weeks, he has been battling with the Saver to process his documents, but no headway.
Meanwhile, our findings reveals that the Customs Saver has started working from yesterday, but the Cleaning Agents and their importers are left to grapple with the huge demurrage caused by the Saver downtime in the last two weeks.
