In a strategic move to drive home the message of collaboration and deepening of synergy for effective and efficient operations of the Nigeria Customs Service, the new Customs Controller of the Eastern Marine Command, Comptroller Chika C. Dim has embark on a familiarization
tour of sister security agencies within his domain.
According to a press statement issued by Chief Superintendent of Customs
EMMANUEL TANGWA, PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER EASTERN MARINE COMMAND, PORT HARCOURT, the Customs boss, who has just resumed at the Eastern Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has made several courtesy visits which began on Thursday 2 May 2024 to sister security agencies in a bid to cement ties and further strengthen existing bonds of
collaboration between his command and the relevant agencies.
The courtesy visits were made to agencies such as the Federal Fire Service, the Nigerian Immigration Service, the Director of State Security Services, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency among others. Comptroller Dim also made an important visit to the Nigerian Navy, NNS Pathfinder in the maritime domain.

During these meetings, the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi’s message of collaboration and deepening of synergy for effective and efficient operations was
reiterated by Comptroller Chika C DIM. He highlighted the need for joint patrols,
intelligence sharing, and capacity building of personnel to enable them to work in synergy in order to achieve their common goal of promoting national security and protecting the nation’s
borders.
The Comptroller of the Eastern Marine Command emphasized the importance of interagency cooperation and the need to work together to combat illicit activities such as smuggling, illegal migration, and drug trafficking.
The visits were well received by the sister agencies, with promises of continued
cooperation and support for the Nigeria Customs Service. Comptroller Dim also
expressed her readiness to work closely with these agencies and promote a seamless coordination of operations in the maritime domain.
The courtesy calls were seen as a positive step towards better working relationships
between the Nigeria Customs Service and sister security agencies, as they strife to
secure the nation’s borders and promote economic development.
