Tin Can Customs Extends Working Hours to address Server Down time.

To address the few days network failure in the Customs Commands of Apapa, Tin Can Island and PTML Commands which led to delay in exit of goods from the ports. The Customs Area Controller of Tin Can Island Command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi has mandated officers of the Command to be at their duty post from 8am Saturday morning.

According to a memo from the Command’s Public Relations Officer’s desk, addressed to terminal operators, clearing Agents and other stakeholders,the statement titled ” Operationisation of Work Hours” reads:

” The CAC has directed that all DC terminals, Releasing Officers, Heads of Units and their respective officers extend all operations till 2000Hours today 3rd May 2024 in order to address the concern arising from downtown experienced in the ports and to cover lost time.

” In line with this directive stakeholders within the port corridors are hereby informed that officers will also be at their duty posts by 0800Hours on Saturday 4th May, 2024″, the statement said.

A source from the port also inform Roamrepporters online that the cyber network at the ports have been restored, but lamented that Clearing Agents are not responding to the relief to exit their goods from the ports as provided by the Tin Can Island Customs.

It could be recalled that Clearing Agents and their importers have been groaning over cyber network failures at the ports starting from the beginning of the week.
