WATERWAYS TRANSPORTATION: A Voyage With NIWA’s Seabus

The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) through its Lagos Area Office has introduced a luxury and leasure traveling experience that will give waterways users maximum comfort at affordable rates.

The latest NIWA Seabus transport model has come to redefined safety, comfort, convinience and class, as well as reliability and punctuality to meet up passengers target time and season.

The Seabus which is one of NIWA’s Lagos State Area Office initiatives is to support the various other transportation facilities plying the Lagos waterways, but in a more orderly , classy, convinience and safety guaranteed mode.

The Seabus has the resemblance of a mini -ship with two big outboard engines, male and female toilets and a 66 passengers capacity inside the cosy seats, while over 15 passengers can also sit on its one floor breezy coach upstairs, totalling over 70 passengers at a go.

The NIWA Seabus, though have not been officially launch is now plying the Marina – Ikorodu route in preparation to explore other routes like Marina to Badagry and Marina to Epe.

To showcase its strength, capacity and comfortable traits, the NIWA Seabus was on Easter Monday used to convey stakeholders, media friends and NIWA staff on a free ride from the Marina jetty to Badagry. It was fun and entertainment galore as the DJ churn out sweet music (Gbedu ) that kept the journey enjoyable and fun.

The journey was to further test run the Seabus on the Marina – Badagry route , which took over four hours to and fro.
According to a NIWA source , the Seabus is the initiatives of the Lagos Area Office to introduce a new travelling experience in the Lagos waterways transportation system. The source said the Seabus can be hired by tourists, fun seekers , party and ceremonies organisers to convey both human and goods to any destination of their choice across the Country.

With the functional facilities of convinience and class embedded in the NIWA Seabus, Lagosians and indeed Nigerians can transverse the waterways within the country for any event or ceremony of their choice with adequate safety, security and comfort.
