Two Nigerian labour leaders Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, President General of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria ( MWUN) and Comrade Bob Yousou , National President of Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association (NMNOWTSSA) have emerged victorious in a tightly contested elections at the ongoing International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Conference held in Abidjan, Cote D Ivoire.
Both were elected on Thursday at the conference with the theme: Peace and Justice for Sustainable Transport in Africa.The ongoing ITF Africa Regional Conference ceremony is taking place at Radisson Blu Hotel, Abidjan between March 5-7 2024.
During the election at the ITF Africa Regional Conference in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire, Comrade Adeyanju won the position of Chairman, West Africa and Vice President of ITF Africa region. While Engineer Yousou emerged, Chairman International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Africa Seafarers.
The election witnessed hundreds of delegates from across Africa who arrived in Abidjan since on Monday March 4 to build transport workers power across the continent.
While the conference kicks off on Tuesday , ITF aimed to inspire women and young worker with specific conferences.
