The Murtala Mohammed Airport Cargo Command Ikeja, Lagos State of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected a total of ₦ 74, 286, 707, 443.01k from January to October 2023 as Customs duty and other charges. The amount when compared to the revenue collected same period in 2022 which stood ₦60, 056, 125, 823.29k, shows a progressive difference of ₦14, 230, 581, 619,72k depicting a 23% increase of collection.
The Command so far has met 76.34% of its annual revenue target for 2023. According to the Customs Area Controller , Comptroller MS Yusuf, this was made possible as a result of resilience of officers in ensuring that agents were made to do proper declarations and to adhere strictly to import/export guidelines in tandem with extant laws.

Comptroller Yusuf said ” in the area of anti-smuggling activities, Officers and Men of Murtala Muhammed Airport Command are not resting on their oars in enforcing government fiscal policies and other trade guidelines.”
“The Command intercepted unregistered pharmaceutical products suspected to be Tramadol tablets. The shipment was intercepted on the suspicion of exceeding the approved threshold by the Federal Government. The cumulative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the aforementioned items stood ₦ 3,556, 802,942.18k. It has been scheduled for handing over today during this press briefing”.

Also speaking in the area of stakeholder’s engagement, he said the Command has maintained its open-door policy and resolved a lot of issues of common interest with concerned stakeholders.
” Let me also at this juncture thank our critical stakeholders, sister agencies and the media for their collaborative efforts and synergy while carrying out our statutory mandate in the command”.
Comptroller Yusuf said he is thankful to the Comptroller General of the Service, BA Adeniyi MFR and his Management team for approving the renovation of the command which is wearing a new look and has provided a conducive working environment for both officers and stakeholders who use the command for their businesses.
“I want to use this medium to profoundly thank the Comptroller General of Customs, BA Adeniyi MFR , for providing an enabling environment as regards to the renovation in the Command. Let me extend same gratitude to Officers and Men of Murtala Muhammed Airport Command. I also want to urge Officers and Men of the Command to remain focused and steadfast in discharging their assigned responsibilities”. Comptroller Yusuf said.
