OVERTIME CARGO: CUSTOMS HOLDS MEETING WITH STAKEHOLDERS FOR DISPOSAL

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in order to carry out the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dispose off all overtime cargoes littering the ports and terminals, held a meeting with terminal operators and other stakeholders on Monday in Lagos .

According to a letter of invitation , signed by OA Alajogun fsi , Assistant Comptroller General ( Headquarters) on behalf of the Comptroller General of the Service, said the stakeholders are to meet with the Comptroller General of Customs in preparation for the commencement of the overtime cargo Disposal Exercise as approved by Mr President.

The letter of invitation dated 31 October, 2023 with reference NO NCS/ADM/MGT/012/S.162 state as follows:

” In preparation for the commencement of the Overtime Cargo Disposal Exercise as approved by Mr President vide State House letter reference PRES/65-1/COS/24/114/NCS/1 of 19 July 2023, the Service hereby invites you for a meeting with the Comptroller General of Customs scheduled to hold as follows:
Date: Monday 6, November 2023.
Time: 2pm
Venue: Lagos Continental Hotel, Kofo Abayomi Street , Victoria Island, Lagos.

” This meeting is facilitated and designed to address issues relating to the handling and eventual disposal of overtime cargoes.

” While looking forward to a fruitful meeting, accept the assurances of the Comptroller General’s esteem regards please “, the letter said.

After discussing the with stakeholders, it was agreed that a committee will be set up to work out the modalities for the disposal of the overtime cargoes.
